The Zomi Revolutionary Army–Eastern Command (ZRA-EC) has issued a press statement strongly condemning the killing of three Indian civilians, which it says was carried out by the Chin National Army (CNA) in coordination with the People’s Defence Army (PDA).
The incident reportedly took place at Anlangh Bridge in the Tonzang–Tedim District of Chin State, Myanmar. According to the ZRA-EC statement released on April 6, 2026, the three victims—civilians of Indian origin—had crossed into the area for the sole purpose of selling commodities, a common livelihood practice among border communities.
Reliable sources cited by ZRA-EC indicate that the three were apprehended at a PDA–CNA checkpoint at Anlangh Bridge under the false suspicion of being affiliated with Indian intelligence agencies. Based on these unfounded allegations, the civilians were reportedly taken to a PDA camp at Gelzang, where they were brutally tortured and killed.
The ZRA-EC further stated that approximately three to four days after the killings, its forces captured the PDA-CNA camp at Gelzang and discovered the bodies of the three victims. Images of the deceased have been attached to the press release as evidence.
“The targeting and killing of unarmed civilians on mere suspicion reflects a dangerous breakdown of accountability and respect for human life,” the statement read. ZRA-EC called upon all concerned authorities and organizations to take immediate cognizance of the atrocity and ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
In a firm rejection of counterclaims, ZRA-EC dismissed what it described as “wrongful allegations” made by the CNA and PDA—operating under the Chinland Council—regarding ZRA-EC’s alleged involvement in the incident. The group called those claims “entirely baseless and misleading,” suggesting they are a deliberate attempt to deflect responsibility and create public confusion.
ZRA-EC urged all stakeholders to refrain from spreading misinformation and to act with responsibility and integrity during the sensitive period. “The truth must prevail, and justice must be delivered for the innocent lives lost,” the statement concluded.
The organization extended its deepest condolences to the bereaved families and expressed solidarity with them in their time of grief.
